# Strategy Overview

![](/files/pKGPiHLiI4rscCEoixiU)

## Quantitative Trading Framework

PulseTrader combines **regime detection**, **parameter optimization**, and **adaptive strategy routing** to deliver high-probability trading opportunities. Our system continuously analyzes market conditions and routes trades to the most suitable strategy for current conditions.

### 🧠 **Framework Philosophy**

#### **Adaptive Approach**

* **Regime-Aware**: Automatically detects market conditions (high/low volatility, trending, mean-reverting)
* **Continuously Optimized**: Parameters updated weekly based on walk-forward optimization across all tokens
* **Data-Driven Routing**: Routes to the best-performing strategy for each regime
* **Multi-Strategy Portfolio**: Diversifies across 3 complementary approaches

#### **The PulseBT Engine**

Our proprietary backtesting framework powers everything:

* **Walk-Forward Validation**: Tests strategies on rolling time windows to prevent overfitting
* **Multi-Objective Optimization**: Grid Search, Random Search, and Bayesian optimization
* **Regime Detection Pipeline**: Volatility, trend, and funding rate analysis
* **Performance Analytics**: Real-time tracking and analytics

***

### 📊 **The Three Core Strategies**

#### **1. Q-XTrend (Advanced Trend Follower)**

* **Type**: Trend-following based on dynamic support/resistance analysis
* **Best Regimes**: High volatility, strong trending markets
* **Approach**: Volatility-adjusted bands that flip between uptrend/downtrend states
* **Strengths**: Catches sustained directional moves, early trend detection
* **Works Best When**: Clear market direction with momentum

**Technical Details:**

* Uses adaptive trend detection with volatility-based bands
* Dynamic stop-loss and take-profit based on market conditions
* Regime-adjusted parameters for different market conditions
* Filters by minimum trend strength threshold

***

#### **2. Q-Pulse (Short Term Momentum)**

* **Type**: Multi-layer momentum analysis
* **Best Regimes**: Normal/low volatility, momentum markets
* **Approach**: Triple momentum ribbon alignment detection
* **Strengths**: Quick entries on momentum acceleration, tight risk management
* **Works Best When**: Strong momentum with clear directional alignment

**Technical Details:**

* Uses multi-timeframe momentum ribbon system
* Requires momentum alignment + price confirmation + strength threshold
* Volatility-based dynamic TP/SL levels
* Exit signals when momentum weakens or alignment breaks

***

#### **3. Z-Score (Mean Reversion)**

* **Type**: Statistical mean reversion
* **Best Regimes**: High volatility, range-bound markets
* **Approach**: Trades extreme price deviations using z-score analysis
* **Strengths**: Profits from overextensions, excellent for choppy markets
* **Works Best When**: Price shows mean-reverting behavior

**Technical Details:**

* Calculates z-score of price movements over lookback window
* Entry on extreme statistical deviations
* Exit when price reverts toward mean
* Volatility-adaptive TP/SL with statistical mean-reversion targeting
* Minimum holding period prevents whipsaw trades
* Optional trend filter avoids counter-trend trades
* Regime-specific threshold adjustments

[**Learn more about Z-Score Mean Reversion →**](/quantitative-strategies/zscore-mean-reversion-strategy)

***

### 🔄 **The Optimization & Routing Framework**

#### **How It Works**

```
Market Data (OHLCV + Funding + OI)
           ↓
    REGIME DETECTION (Every 3 Hours)
    ├─ Volatility Detector
    ├─ Trend Detector
    └─ Funding Detector
           ↓
    Detected Regime + Confidence
    (high_volatility, low_volatility, normal_volatility, etc.)
           ↓
    PARAMETER OPTIMIZATION (Weekly)
    ├─ Walk-Forward Validation
    ├─ Grid/Random/Bayesian Search
    └─ Multi-Objective Scoring
           ↓
    Best Parameters Selected for Token + Regime
           ↓
    ADAPTIVE ROUTING
    Routes to strategy with best performance using
    optimized parameters for each token
    (Data-driven selection based on historical performance
     in detected regime)
           ↓
    TRADE EXECUTION
    Strategy generates entry/exit signals with:
    - Entry/Exit conditions
    - Position sizing
    - Stop-loss & Take-profit levels
```

#### **Walk-Forward Optimization**

* **Training Window**: Historical data for parameter optimization
* **Testing Window**: Forward validation on unseen data
* **Rolling Forward**: Continuously steps forward to test robustness
* **Prevents Overfitting**: Parameters must work on future data, not just past

#### **Regime-Adaptive Routing**

The system automatically routes each token to the best strategy based on:

1. Current detected regime (volatility + trend state)
2. Historical performance of each strategy in that regime
3. Confidence threshold (only acts on high-confidence detections)

# Q-XTrend Strategy

![](/files/pKGPiHLiI4rscCEoixiU)

## Q-XTrend Strategy

**Advanced Trend Following**

The Q-XTrend strategy uses adaptive trend detection bands to identify and ride sustained directional price movements. It excels at catching trends early and holding positions through volatility while protecting capital with dynamic risk management.

### 🎯 **Strategy Overview**

#### **Core Philosophy**

"Capture trends early, ride them with confidence, exit before reversals"

The strategy creates dynamic support/resistance bands that flip between bullish and bearish states. Q-XTrend enters when these states change, indicating a new trend is forming.

#### **Key Characteristics**

* **Type**: Trend-following using adaptive trend detection
* **Indicator Base**: Volatility-adjusted bands around price
* **Best Regimes**: High volatility, strong trending markets
* **Signal Type**: State-change entries + continuation signals
* **Risk Management**: Volatility-based stop-loss and take-profit levels

***

### 🧠 **How Q-XTrend Works**

#### **Adaptive Trend Detection Mechanics**

The strategy creates two dynamic bands using proprietary volatility calculations:

```
Upper Band = Price Center + (Volatility × Band Width)
Lower Band = Price Center - (Volatility × Band Width)
```

**Trend State Logic:**

* **Uptrend**: Price above lower band → Long bias
* **Downtrend**: Price below upper band → Short bias
* **State Change**: Trend flip triggers entry signal

#### **Signal Generation Process**

1. **Calculate Volatility**: Measures current market volatility
2. **Build Adaptive Bands**: Volatility-based support/resistance
3. **Detect State Changes**: Uptrend ↔ Downtrend transitions
4. **Measure Trend Strength**: Price distance from bands
5. **Filter by Confidence**: Minimum trend strength threshold
6. **Generate Entry/Exit**: State changes create signals

#### **Entry Conditions**

**Long Entry:**

* Trend detection flips to uptrend (state change detected)
* Price confirms above lower band
* Trend strength exceeds minimum threshold
* Beyond warm-up period (indicator stabilization)

**Short Entry:**

* Trend detection flips to downtrend (state change detected)
* Price confirms below upper band
* Trend strength exceeds minimum threshold
* Beyond warm-up period

#### **Exit Conditions**

**Position Exits:**

* Trend state reverses (uptrend → downtrend or vice versa)
* Volatility-based take-profit level reached
* Volatility-based stop-loss triggered
* Trend strength deteriorates below threshold

***

# Z-Score Mean Reversion Strategy

![](/files/pKGPiHLiI4rscCEoixiU)

## Z-Score Mean Reversion Strategy

The Z-Score Mean Reversion strategy is PulseTrader's statistical arbitrage algorithm designed to profit from price overextensions by trading the reversion to mean. This strategy excels at capturing profit opportunities when prices deviate significantly from their statistical equilibrium, particularly in high volatility and range-bound markets.

### 🎯 **Strategy Overview**

#### **Core Philosophy**

"Price extremes don't last forever" - Z-Score identifies statistically significant price deviations and trades the eventual return to equilibrium with mathematically calculated risk-reward ratios.

#### **Key Characteristics**

* **Type**: Statistical Mean Reversion
* **Best Regimes**: High volatility, range-bound, and sideways markets
* **Approach**: Z-score statistical analysis with adaptive thresholds
* **Strengths**: Profits from overextensions, excellent risk management in choppy markets
* **Recommended For**: Counter-trend trading in volatile, non-trending conditions

#### **Performance Characteristics**

Performance varies by token and market regime. The strategy is optimized weekly for each token, with metrics tracked via our analytics dashboard:

* Risk-adjusted returns in different volatility regimes
* Win rates in range-bound vs trending markets
* Maximum drawdown control
* Trade frequency and holding period optimization

***

### 🧠 **How Z-Score Mean Reversion Works**

#### **Statistical Foundation**

The Z-Score measures how many standard deviations the current price movement is from its recent average:

```
Z-Score = (Return - Mean Return) / Standard Deviation
Where:
- Return = Log return of price
- Mean Return = Rolling average over lookback period
- Standard Deviation = Rolling std dev over lookback period
```

A positive Z-Score means the price is above the mean (potentially overextended upward). A negative Z-Score means the price is below the mean (potentially overextended downward).

#### **Signal Generation Process**

The strategy generates contrarian signals based on statistical extremes:

**Entry Logic:**

* **Long Entry**: When Z-Score < -entry\_z (price significantly below recent average)
  * Price has dropped dramatically relative to its recent behavior
  * Statistical probability suggests reversion upward
* **Short Entry**: When Z-Score > +entry\_z (price significantly above recent average)
  * Price has rallied dramatically relative to its recent behavior
  * Statistical probability suggests reversion downward

**Exit Logic:**

* **Long Exit**: When Z-Score > -exit\_z (price has reverted toward mean)
* **Short Exit**: When Z-Score < +exit\_z (price has reverted toward mean)

#### **Dynamic Regime Adaptation**

The strategy continuously adapts to market conditions:

* **Volatility Calibration**: Adjusts Z-score thresholds based on detected market regimes
  * High volatility → Lower entry thresholds for earlier entries
  * Low volatility → Higher entry thresholds for quality filtering
* **Minimum Holding Period**: Prevents premature exits during short-term noise
  * Configurable bars since entry before exit signals are considered
  * Reduces whipsaw trades and transaction costs
* **Optional Trend Filter**: Avoids counter-trend trades in strong directional moves
  * Uses SMA to detect trend strength
  * Increases entry threshold when fighting strong trends
  * Helps avoid catching falling knives or fighting momentum

***

### 📊 **Parameter Optimization Framework**

#### **Core Parameters**

The strategy uses several key parameters that are continuously optimized:

| Parameter            | Purpose                               | Optimized Range       |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------- | --------------------- |
| `lookback`           | Period for calculating mean & std dev | Dynamically optimized |
| `entry_z`            | Z-score threshold for entry signals   | Dynamically optimized |
| `exit_z`             | Z-score threshold for exit signals    | Dynamically optimized |
| `min_holding_period` | Minimum bars to hold position         | Dynamically optimized |
| `trend_filter`       | Enable/disable trend filtering        | Regime-specific       |

* **Reversion Factor**: Dynamically optimized per token
* **Mean Lookback**: Rolling window for calculating target mean

**Volatility-Adaptive Stop-Loss:**

* **Method**: Percentile-based volatility calculation
* **Logic**: Sets stop-loss based on recent volatility percentile
* **Base Multiplier**: Dynamically optimized per token
* **Volatility Percentile**: Adaptive based on market conditions
* **Adaptive Sizing**: Wider stops in volatile markets, tighter in calm conditions

**Token-Specific Optimization:**

* TP/SL parameters can be optimized per token via Bayesian optimization
* Parameters include: reversion\_factor, base\_multiplier, volatility\_percentile
* Ensures each cryptocurrency gets customized risk management

#### **Regime-Specific Adjustments**

The strategy adapts entry/exit thresholds based on detected market regimes:

**High Volatility Regimes:**

* Entry Z-Score: Lower thresholds (easier entry on extremes)
* Exit Z-Score: Lower thresholds (quicker profit-taking)
* Rationale: Larger price swings create more reversion opportunities

**Low Volatility Regimes:**

* Entry Z-Score: Higher thresholds (stricter entry requirements)
* Exit Z-Score: Higher thresholds (wait for fuller reversion)
* Rationale: Smaller deviations require higher statistical confidence

**Normal/Very Low Volatility:**

* Entry Z-Score: Standard thresholds
* Exit Z-Score: Balanced approach

***

# Hedging with Polymarket

![](/files/pKGPiHLiI4rscCEoixiU)

## Hedging with Polymarket

Protect your stop-loss levels and reduce trading risk using **Polymarket prediction markets**. PulseTrader's hedging strategy allows you to offset potential losses when your stop-loss gets hit, turning painful stops into manageable setbacks.

### 🛡️ **Why Hedge Your Stop-Loss?**

#### **The Problem**

Every trader has experienced this frustrating scenario:

1. **Enter a high-conviction trade** with proper stop-loss placement
2. **Price moves against you** and hits your stop-loss
3. **You get stopped out** at a loss
4. **Price immediately reverses** and runs to your original target without you

**Result**: You took the full loss, but missed the winning move you predicted.

#### **The Solution: Hedge Your SL**

By using Polymarket prediction markets, you can **hedge your stop-loss level**:

* **If your SL gets hit**: The Polymarket hedge pays out, offsetting some of your perpetual loss
* **If your trade wins**: You pay a small hedge premium, but your perp profits more than cover it
* **Net Effect**: Reduced risk, better capital preservation, smoother equity curve

**Think of it as insurance**: You pay a small premium for protection against the stop-loss scenario.

***

### 📊 **How SL Hedging Works**

#### **The Mechanics**

**Traditional Trade**:

```
Long BTC perp at $95,000
Stop-loss at $90,000
Risk: $5,000 per 1 BTC position
```

**Hedged Trade**:

```
Long BTC perp at $95,000
Stop-loss at $90,000
+ Buy "BTC below $92,000" Polymarket shares at $0.30
If SL hits:
- Perp loss: -$5,000
- Polymarket payout: +$1,000 (if BTC < $92k)
- Net loss: -$4,000 (20% less loss)
If trade wins:
- Perp profit: +$10,000 (to TP target)
- Polymarket premium: -$300
- Net profit: +$9,700
```

#### **Key Concept**

The hedge doesn't prevent the stop-loss from triggering—it **reduces the financial impact** when it does. You're trading a small certain cost (premium) for protection against a larger uncertain loss (SL getting hit).

***

### 🎯 **Step-by-Step Hedging Process**

#### **Step 1: Identify Your Position Parameters**

Before setting up a hedge, define your trade:

**Perpetual Position**:

* Asset: BTC, ETH, SOL, etc.
* Direction: Long or Short
* Entry Price: $95,000
* Position Size: 1 BTC ($95,000 notional)
* Stop-Loss: $90,000 (5.3% from entry)
* Take-Profit: $105,000 (10.5% from entry)

**Risk Calculation**:

* Max Loss if SL hits: $5,000
* Max Gain if TP hits: $10,000
* Risk:Reward Ratio: 1:2

#### **Step 2: Find Correlated Polymarket Market**

Navigate to the Polymarket section in PulseTrader:

**Market Selection Criteria**:

* **Question**: "Will BTC be below $92,000 by \[date]?"
* **Expiry**: Matches or exceeds your trade timeframe
* **Current Price**: $0.25-$0.40 range (25-40% implied probability)
* **Liquidity**: Sufficient volume for your hedge size

**Why $92,000 and not $90,000?**

* Gives buffer above your exact SL
* Cheaper premium than exact SL level
* Pays out even if you get stopped at $90k

#### **Step 3: Calculate Hedge Size**

Determine how much protection you want:

**Full Hedge (100% Protection)**:

```
Perp Risk: $5,000
Polymarket shares needed: $5,000 worth
Cost at $0.30/share: $1,500 premium
Protection: 100% offset if SL hits
```

**Partial Hedge (50% Protection)**:

```
Perp Risk: $5,000
Polymarket shares needed: $2,500 worth
Cost at $0.30/share: $750 premium
Protection: 50% offset if SL hits
```

**Budget-Friendly Hedge (25% Protection)**:

```
Perp Risk: $5,000
Polymarket shares needed: $1,250 worth
Cost at $0.30/share: $375 premium
Protection: 25% offset if SL hits
```

**Most traders use 25-50% protection** to balance premium cost vs risk reduction.

#### **Step 4: Execute Combined Strategy**

**Using PulseTrader's Hedge Calculator**:

1. **Input Perp Details**:
   * Exchange: HyperLiquid
   * Asset: BTC
   * Entry: $95,000
   * SL: $90,000
   * Size: 1 BTC
2. **Select Polymarket Market**:
   * Browse suggested markets
   * Choose "BTC below $92k" market
   * Current price: $0.30
3. **Configure Hedge**:
   * Protection level: 50%
   * Shares to buy: $2,500 worth
   * Premium cost: $750
4. **Review Scenarios**:
   * **SL Scenario**: Perp loses $5,000, hedge gains $2,500, net loss $2,500
   * **TP Scenario**: Perp gains $10,000, hedge loses $750, net profit $9,250
5. **Execute**:
   * One-click execution places both orders
   * Track combined position in dashboard

***

### 💡 **Example: Real Trade Scenario**

#### **Setup**

**Market Context**:

* BTC trading at $95,000
* High volatility period (Fed meeting tomorrow)
* Q-XTrend signals Long entry
* You're bullish but want protection

**Your Trade**:

* Long BTC perp at $95,000
* Leverage: 5x
* Position size: $50,000 notional (0.526 BTC)
* Stop-loss: $90,000
* Take-profit: $105,000

**Risk Analysis**:

* Max loss: $2,632 (if SL hits)
* Max gain: $5,263 (if TP hits)
* R:R = 1:2

#### **The Hedge**

**Polymarket Market**: "Will BTC be below $92,000 by Dec 31, 2026?"

* Current price: $0.28 per share
* Your view: 28% chance BTC drops below $92k

**Hedge Configuration**:

* Protection goal: 40% of perp risk
* Shares needed: $1,053 worth (40% of $2,632)
* Premium cost: $1,053 × $0.28 = **$295**

#### **Scenario Analysis**

**Scenario 1: Price Drops, SL Hits at $90,000**

```
Perp P&L: -$2,632 (stopped out)
Polymarket: +$1,053 (market resolves to "Yes, BTC < $92k")
Hedge premium: Already paid ($295)
Net Loss: -$2,632 + $1,053 = -$1,579
Reduction: 40% less loss than unhedged
```

**Scenario 2: Price Rallies, TP Hits at $105,000**

```
Perp P&L: +$5,263 (target hit)
Polymarket: $0 (market resolves to "No, BTC > $92k")
Hedge premium: -$295 (cost of insurance)
Net Profit: +$5,263 - $295 = +$4,968
Cost: 5.6% of gross profit
```

**Scenario 3: Price Chops, Close at Break-Even**

```
Perp P&L: -$100 (small loss, closed manually)
Polymarket: If BTC still above $92k, shares worth ~$0.15
Hedge recovery: Sell shares for ~$158 ($1,053 × $0.15)
Net: -$100 + $158 - $295 = -$237
Small loss, but avoided worse outcome
```

#### **The Outcome**

In this example:

* **Insurance cost**: $295 (5.6% of potential profit)
* **Protection gained**: $1,053 if stopped out (40% of risk)
* **Peace of mind**: Sleep better during Fed volatility

**Decision**: Hedge worth it for high-volatility event protection.

***

### ⏰ **When to Hedge Your Stop-Loss**

#### **High-Conviction, Tight SL Trades**

**Ideal Conditions**:

* Strong signal from Q-XTrend or Q-Pulse
* Tight stop-loss close to entry (2-5% away)
* High confidence in direction
* Want to protect initial capital

**Example**:

* Q-XTrend signals trend reversal at key support
* Tight SL just below support level
* Hedge protects if support breaks but trend reverses later

#### **Before Known Volatility Events**

**High-Risk Events**:

* **FOMC Meetings**: Fed decisions can cause 10%+ swings
* **CPI/NFP Data**: Economic data releases create volatility
* **Earnings Reports**: For RWA stock perpetuals
* **Protocol Upgrades**: ETH merge, major forks
* **Regulatory Announcements**: SEC decisions, legislation

**Strategy**:

* Enter position before event (better entry price)
* Hedge SL during volatile period
* Remove hedge after event passes if trade intact

#### **Trading in Uncertain Market Conditions**

**Market Characteristics**:

* Choppy, range-bound price action
* Mixed signals from multiple strategies
* Low-conviction setup but good R:R
* Recent false breakouts common

**Benefit**:

* Reduces cost of getting stopped out in chop
* Allows tighter SL (better R:R) with less risk
* Exit at break-even if hedge recovers premium

#### **Portfolio Protection**

**Multiple Open Positions**:

* Several correlated longs (BTC, ETH, SOL)
* Systemic risk concerns (exchange issues, regulation)
* Want to hedge overall portfolio downside

**Strategy**:

* Single Polymarket hedge for portfolio
* "Crypto market cap below $X" type markets
* More cost-effective than hedging each position

#### **When NOT to Hedge**

**Skip hedging when**:

* **Wide stop-loss**: SL more than 10% from entry (hedge too expensive)
* **Low conviction**: If not confident, don't enter the trade
* **High premium cost**: Hedge costs >10% of potential profit
* **Short timeframe**: Scalping or very short-term trades
* **Small position size**: Not worth complexity for <$500 risk

***

### 💰 **Cost-Benefit Analysis**

#### **Hedge Premium vs Protection Trade-off**

**Premium Costs by Probability**:

```
Market Price    Implied Probability    Cost per $1000 Protection
$0.20          20% BTC < target        $200
$0.30          30% BTC < target        $300
$0.40          40% BTC < target        $400
$0.50          50% BTC < target        $500
```

**General Guidelines**:

* **$0.20-$0.30**: Good value, hedge costs 20-30% of protection
* **$0.30-$0.40**: Moderate cost, worth it for high-conviction trades
* **$0.40-$0.50**: Expensive, only for high-volatility events
* **>$0.50**: Too expensive, market sees high likelihood

#### **Break-Even Analysis**

**When does hedging pay off?**

Formula: `Hedge becomes profitable if SL hit rate > Premium %`

**Example**:

* Hedge premium: $300
* Protection provided: $1,000
* Cost: 30% of protection

**Break-even**: If you get stopped out >30% of the time, hedge is profitable.

**Reality Check**:

* If your SL hit rate is >30%, you might need better entries
* Hedge is for rare stops, not frequent losses
* Focus on high-quality setups + hedges

***

### 🔧 **Practical Tips**

#### **Choosing the Right Strike Price**

**Options for $90k SL**:

| Market Strike | Premium | Protection                 | Why Choose                               |
| ------------- | ------- | -------------------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| BTC < $88k | $0.15 | Only pays if well below SL | Cheap lottery ticket, minimal protection |
| BTC < $90k    | $0.25   | Pays if SL exactly hit     | Precise protection, moderate cost        |
| BTC < $92k    | $0.30   | Pays before SL triggers    | Buffer protection, catches SL + bounce   |
| BTC < $95k    | $0.45   | Pays at entry price        | Expensive, but earliest protection       |

**Recommended**: Choose $92k (2-3% above SL) for balance of cost and protection.

#### **Hedge Sizing Rules of Thumb**

**Position Risk-Based**:

```
Small position (<$1k risk):     No hedge needed
Medium position ($1k-$5k risk): 25-40% hedge
Large position ($5k-$20k risk): 40-60% hedge
Very large (>$20k risk):        50-75% hedge
```

**Conviction-Based**:

```
Low conviction:        Don't trade or use 50% hedge
Medium conviction:     30-40% hedge
High conviction:       20-30% hedge
Very high conviction:  10-20% hedge or no hedge
```

#### **Managing Hedge Positions**

**During the Trade**:

* Monitor both perp and Polymarket positions
* Track time to hedge expiry
* Watch for correlation breakdown

**If Trade Moves in Your Favor**:

* Consider closing hedge early if well above SL
* Sell Polymarket shares to recover some premium
* Lock in protection at reduced cost

**If Trade Approaches SL**:

* Hedge value increases as SL approaches
* Consider closing both positions for combined P\&L
* Or let SL trigger and collect hedge payout

**After Hedge Expires**:

* If perp still open, decide: close, re-hedge, or continue unhedged
* Calculate cost vs benefit of rolling hedge
* Consider market conditions changed since entry

***

### 📈 **Advanced Hedging Strategies**

#### **Ladder Hedging**

Instead of single hedge, use multiple strikes:

**Example**:

```
Perp: Long BTC at $95k, SL $90k
Hedge ladder:
- $500 in "BTC < $94k" at $0.40 = Pays if barely drops
- $750 in "BTC < $92k" at $0.30 = Pays before SL
- $500 in "BTC < $90k" at $0.25 = Pays if SL exact hit
Total premium: $625
Total protection: $1,750 if all hit
Average protection increases as price falls
```

**Benefit**: Graduated protection, better average payout.

#### **Time-Based Rolling Hedges**

For longer-term positions:

**Strategy**:

1. Enter perp position for swing trade (weeks)
2. Buy short-dated hedge (7-14 days)
3. As hedge approaches expiry, close and roll to new hedge
4. Continue until trade closes

**When Useful**:

* Longer holding periods (weeks/months)
* No single hedge covers full timeframe
* Costs less than one long-dated hedge

#### **Event-Specific Hedges**

Combine perp trading with event hedging:

**Example - FOMC Strategy**:

```
Before FOMC:
- Long BTC perp at $95k (anticipating rally)
- Buy "Fed raises rates 75bps" at $0.20 (protection if hawkish)
Scenario 1: Fed dovish, BTC rallies
- Perp wins big, hedge expires worthless
- Net: Large profit minus small premium
Scenario 2: Fed hawkish, BTC dumps
- Perp stopped out, but "75bps" hedge pays 5x
- Net: Reduced loss or even profit
```

### ❓ **Frequently Asked Questions**

**Q: Does hedging guarantee I won't lose money?** A: No, hedging reduces losses when your SL hits, but you still pay a premium. It's insurance, not a guarantee of profit.

**Q: Should I hedge every trade?** A: No, only hedge high-conviction trades with tight stop-losses or trades before major volatility events. Hedging every trade would erode profits.

**Q: What if my perp wins but Polymarket hedge loses?** A: That's the expected outcome! You pay the hedge premium (small cost) but your perp profits cover it and more.

**Q: Can I close the hedge early?** A: Yes, you can sell your Polymarket shares anytime before expiry. If your trade is safely profitable, close the hedge to recover some premium.

**Q: What happens if Polymarket market expires before my perp closes?** A: Your hedge protection ends at expiry. Either close your perp before expiry, roll to a new hedge, or continue unhedged.

**Q: How much does hedging typically cost?** A: Premium costs range from 20-40% of the protection provided, depending on market probability. For $1000 protection, expect to pay $200-$400.

**Q: Is hedging worth the cost?** A: For high-conviction trades before volatile events, yes. For routine trades with wide stops, usually no. Use selectively.

**Q: Can I hedge short positions?** A: Yes, buy "BTC above $X" markets to hedge short perp positions. Logic is the same, just inverted.

## RWA Trading

PulseTrader extends quantitative trading beyond crypto with **Real World Assets (RWAs)**—enabling you to trade stocks, commodities, forex, and indices using the same proven strategies that power crypto signal generation.

### 💼 **What are Real World Assets (RWAs)?**

* **Stocks**: Major publicly traded companies
* **Indices**: Market indices like S\&P 500
* **Commodities**: Precious metals like gold and silver
* **Forex**: Currency pairs like EUR/USD

Unlike traditional brokerages, RWA perpetuals on PulseTrader offer:

* **24/7 Trading**: Trade traditional assets around the clock
* **High Leverage**: Up to 200x leverage on select assets
* **On-Chain Transparency**: All trades verifiable on blockchain
* **No Counterparty Risk**: Non-custodial trading maintains full control

### 📊 **How RWA Signals Work**

PulseTrader's quantitative strategies apply seamlessly to RWA markets:

#### **Same Proven Strategies**

**Q-Pulse Strategy**

* Momentum-based signals for RWA assets
* Captures rapid price movements in stocks and commodities
* Optimized parameters for RWA market characteristics

**Q-XTrend Strategy**

* Trend-following signals for sustained directional moves
* Effective across stocks, indices, and forex
* Volatility-adjusted bands account for RWA price behavior

**Q-Mean Strategy**

* Mean reversion opportunities in range-bound RWA markets
* Statistical analysis identifies overextended prices
* Particularly effective for commodities and forex

#### **Regime-Aware Optimization**

Just like crypto signals, RWA strategies undergo:

* **Weekly parameter optimization** per asset
* **Walk-forward validation** to prevent overfitting
* **Multi-objective scoring** (Sharpe ratio, win rate, drawdown)
* **Regime detection** to route to optimal strategy for current conditions

***

### 🎯 **Accessing RWA Signals**

#### **RWA Tab**

Navigate to the **RWA** tab in the main navigation to view all real-world asset signals:

1. **Browse Available Signals**: View live RWA opportunities generated by the strategy engine
2. **Filter by Asset Class**: Focus on stocks, commodities, forex, or indices
3. **Strategy Selection**: See which quantitative strategy generated each signal
4. **Review Signal Details**: Entry price, TP/SL levels, confidence score, and max return

* **Strategy Filter**: Q-Pulse, Q-XTrend, Q-Mean
* **Direction Filter**: Long or Short positions
* **Style Filter**: Short Term Momentum, Day Trading, Swing
* **Asset Filter**: Specific stocks, commodities, or indices

***

### 💡 **Market Considerations**

#### **Trading Hours**

While RWA perpetuals trade 24/7 on-chain, be aware of:

**Traditional Market Hours**

* **Stocks & Indices**: Most liquid during US market hours (9:30 AM - 4:00 PM ET)
* **Forex**: Active during regional trading sessions (Asian, European, US)
* **Commodities**: Peak liquidity during respective market hours

**Weekend Trading**

* Perpetuals remain open 24/7
* Lower liquidity outside traditional hours
* Wider spreads possible during off-hours

#### **Liquidity Differences**

Compared to crypto markets:

* **Lower 24/7 Volume**: Most trading concentrated during market hours
* **Tighter Spreads**: During peak hours, spreads often tighter than crypto
* **Event-Driven Volatility**: Earnings reports, economic data, geopolitical events

#### **Leverage & Risk**

**High Leverage Benefits**:

* Capital efficiency for smaller accounts
* Ability to diversify across multiple positions
* Amplified returns on successful trades

**Risk Considerations**:

* Higher leverage = higher liquidation risk
* Start with lower leverage while learning RWA markets
* Use stop-losses religiously (included in all signals)
* Monitor positions during high-impact news events

***

### 🚀 **Signal Execution**

Executing RWA signals works identically to crypto signals:

#### **Execution Flow**

1. **Review Signal**: Click "Execute" on any RWA signal
2. **Verify Details**: Review entry price, TP/SL levels, and position size
3. **Configure Position**: Adjust leverage and position value if needed
4. **Confirm Trade**: One-click execution through your Ostium agent wallet
5. **Track Performance**: Monitor in real-time via the "My Trades" tab

Every RWA signal includes:

* **Dual Take-Profit Levels**: TP1 (50% position close) and TP2 (remaining 50%)
* **Dual Stop-Loss Levels**: SL1 (50% position close) and SL2 (remaining 50%)
* **Expected Return**: Calculated potential profit to TP2
* **Max Risk**: Maximum potential loss to SL2

#### **Agent Wallet System**

RWA trading uses your **Ostium agent wallet**:

* **Trade-Only Permissions**: Agent can only execute trades, never withdraw
* **Non-Custodial**: Funds remain in your main wallet
* **Automated TP/SL**: Stop-loss and take-profit orders placed automatically

# Polymarket Integration

![](/files/pKGPiHLiI4rscCEoixiU)

## Polymarket Integration

PulseTrader integrates with **Polymarket**—the world's largest prediction market platform—enabling you to hedge crypto perpetual positions with event-driven outcomes and explore sophisticated trading strategies that combine derivatives with prediction markets.

### 🎲 **What is Polymarket?**

Polymarket is a **decentralized prediction market** platform where users trade on the outcomes of real-world events:

* **Political Events**: Elections, policy decisions, government actions
* **Crypto Markets**: Bitcoin price predictions, ETH movements, DeFi events
* **Economic Data**: Inflation rates, GDP growth, employment figures
* **Sports & Entertainment**: Tournament outcomes, awards, media events

Unlike traditional derivatives, Polymarket trades focus on **binary outcomes** (Yes/No questions) with defined expiration dates, making them powerful hedging instruments for correlated crypto positions.

#### **How Prediction Markets Work**

**Binary Outcomes**:

* Questions resolve to either "Yes" (pays $1) or "No" (pays $0)
* Current price represents market probability
* Example: "Will BTC be above $100k by end of 2026?" trading at $0.65 = 65% implied probability

**Payout Structure**:

* Buy "Yes" shares at $0.65 → If correct, receive $1 (profit: $0.35 per share)
* Buy "No" shares at $0.35 → If correct, receive $1 (profit: $0.65 per share)
* Total of Yes + No prices always equals $1.00

***

### 🔗 **PulseTrader Integration**

* Unified position tracking (perps + prediction markets)
* Consolidated P\&L calculations
* Seamless fund allocation

**Automated Expiry Management**

* Tracks expiration dates of prediction markets
* Alerts before hedge expiry
* Automated position close options
* Prevents exposure to unhedged perp positions

***

### 🛡️ **Hedging Strategies**

#### **1. Directional Hedge**

**Use Case**: Protect a crypto perp position against adverse moves

**Example Scenario**:

* **Position**: Long BTC perp at $95,000 (10x leverage, $10k notional)
* **Hedge**: Buy "No" on "BTC above $100k by Dec 2026" at $0.40
* **Protection**: If BTC drops, "No" shares increase in value
* **Cost**: Hedge premium ($0.40 per share)

**Payoff Analysis**:

| BTC Price | Perp P\&L | Hedge P\&L | Net P\&L |
| --------- | --------- | ---------- | -------- |
| $110,000  | +$1,500   | -$400      | +$1,100  |
| $100,000  | +$500     | +$200      | +$700    |
| $90,000   | -$500     | +$600      | +$100    |
| $80,000   | -$1,500   | +$600      | -$900    |

**Result**: Hedge limits downside risk while preserving some upside potential

#### **2. Event-Driven Hedge**

**Use Case**: Protect against specific known events

**Example Scenario**:

* **Position**: Long ETH perp ahead of major upgrade
* **Risk**: Upgrade delay or technical issues crash price
* **Hedge**: Buy "No" on "ETH upgrade successful by \[date]"
* **Protection**: If upgrade fails, hedge offsets perp losses

**When to Use**:

* Major protocol upgrades (ETH merge, major forks)
* Regulatory decisions (ETF approvals, legislation)
* Economic data releases (CPI, FOMC decisions)
* Exchange events (listings, delistings)

#### **3. Tail Risk Hedge**

**Use Case**: Cheap insurance against black swan events

**Example Scenario**:

* **Positions**: Multiple long crypto perp positions
* **Concern**: Systemic crash, exchange hack, regulatory crackdown
* **Hedge**: Buy "Yes" on black swan market at low probability ($0.05)
* **Payoff**: 20x return if rare event occurs ($1 payout on $0.05 cost)

**Benefits**:

* Low-cost portfolio insurance
* Massive payout in tail scenarios
* Diversifies risk away from pure price exposure

#### **4. Arbitrage Opportunities**

**Use Case**: Exploit mispricing between perps and prediction markets

**Example Scenario**:

* BTC perp trading at $98,000
* "BTC above $100k" market trading at $0.30 (70% probability it won't)
* If you believe BTC likely to hit $100k, long perp + buy "Yes" shares
* Profit from both perp gains and prediction market correction

***

* Single prediction market hedges entire portfolio
* Cost-effective for large exposure

**Correlation Analysis**:

* Track historical correlation between perps and prediction markets
* Optimize hedge ratios based on beta
* Rebalance as correlations shift
* Dynamic position sizing

### ❓ **Frequently Asked Questions**

**Q: Do I need a separate wallet for Polymarket?** A: Yes, Polymarket operates on Polygon network and requires a separate wallet/credentials from your HyperLiquid/Ostium/Lighter trading.

**Q: What happens if I don't close my hedge before expiry?** A: The prediction market will resolve automatically. If your outcome wins, you receive $1 per share. If it loses, shares expire worthless. Your perp position remains open.

**Q: Can I trade Polymarket markets without hedging perps?** A: Yes, you can trade prediction markets standalone for speculation or arbitrage opportunities.

**Q: How much does hedging cost?** A: Cost equals the price of prediction market shares (e.g., $0.40 per share for 40% probability outcome). This is your maximum loss on the hedge side.

**Q: Is Polymarket safe to use?** A: Polymarket is a reputable platform with audited smart contracts and substantial TVL. As always, only risk what you can afford to lose and understand the contract mechanics.

**Q: Can I withdraw funds from my Polymarket agent wallet?** A: No, the agent wallet has trade-only permissions for security. This is the same security model used for all exchange integrations on PulseTrader.

**Q: What's the minimum hedge size?** A: Depends on the specific Polymarket market, but typically you can start with as little as $10-20 USDC worth of shares.

**Q: How do I know which Polymarket markets correlate with my perp positions?** A: Use the automated hedge suggestions feature which analyzes your positions and recommends correlated prediction markets based on asset, direction, and timing.

# Referrals Program

![](/files/pKGPiHLiI4rscCEoixiU)

## Referrals Program

Earn passive income through PulseTrader's **3-Tier Referral Program**—a multi-level rewards system that pays you commissions on platform fees from traders you refer. Build your network, grow the community, and earn ongoing commissions from your referrals' trading activity.

### 💰 **What is the Referral Program?**

PulseTrader's referral program rewards you for bringing new traders to the platform through a **3-tier commission structure**:

* **Tier 1 (Direct Referrals)**: Earn 30% of platform fees from traders you directly refer
* **Tier 2 (Indirect Referrals)**: Earn 12% from referrals of your referrals
* **Tier 3 (Third-Level)**: Earn 8% from third-level referrals

This creates a **cascading reward system** where you benefit not only from your direct referrals but also from the network they build—encouraging community growth and providing true passive income potential.

***

### 🎯 **Commission Structure**

#### **How Commissions Work**

**CRITICAL**: Commissions are calculated on **platform fees**, not on raw trading volume.

#### **Platform Fee Structure**

PulseTrader charges a **10 basis points (0.10%)** platform fee on position values:

**Example Calculation**:

```
Referee trades $10,000 position
→ Platform fee: $10,000 × 0.10% = $10
→ Tier 1 commission: $10 × 30% = $3
```

#### **3-Tier Breakdown**

| Tier       | Relationship                         | Commission Rate | Example (on $10 platform fee) |
| ---------- | ------------------------------------ | --------------- | ----------------------------- |
| **Tier 1** | Direct referrals (traders you refer) | **30%**         | $3.00                         |
| **Tier 2** | Referrals of your referrals          | **12%**         | $1.20                         |
| **Tier 3** | Third-level referrals                | **8%**          | $0.80                         |

#### **Real-World Example**

**Scenario**: You refer Alice, Alice refers Bob, Bob refers Charlie

**Alice trades $50,000 position**:

* Platform fee: $50,000 × 0.10% = $50
* **You earn**: $50 × 30% = **$15** (Tier 1)

**Bob trades $30,000 position**:

* Platform fee: $30,000 × 0.10% = $30
* **You earn**: $30 × 12% = **$3.60** (Tier 2)
* Alice earns: $30 × 30% = $9 (Tier 1 for her)

**Charlie trades $20,000 position**:

* Platform fee: $20,000 × 0.10% = $20
* **You earn**: $20 × 8% = **$1.60** (Tier 3)
* Bob earns: $20 × 30% = $6 (Tier 1 for him)
* Alice earns: $20 × 12% = $2.40 (Tier 2 for her)

**Total You Earn**: $15 + $3.60 + $1.60 = **$20.20**

### 🌳 **Multi-Tier Cascading**

#### **How the 3-Tier System Works**

**Automatic Tier Assignment** When someone uses a referral code, the system automatically:

1. **Creates Tier 1 relationship** between code owner and new user
2. **Checks if code owner was referred** → Creates Tier 2 relationship
3. **Checks if Tier 2 referrer was referred** → Creates Tier 3 relationship

**Example Network**:

```
You (Code: TRADER2026)
├── Alice (Tier 1)
│   ├── Bob (Tier 2 for you, Tier 1 for Alice)
│   │   └── Charlie (Tier 3 for you, Tier 2 for Alice, Tier 1 for Bob)
│   └── David (Tier 2 for you, Tier 1 for Alice)
└── Eve (Tier 1)
    └── Frank (Tier 2 for you, Tier 1 for Eve)
```

#### **Commission Flow**

When Charlie trades:

* **Bob earns**: 30% (his Tier 1)
* **Alice earns**: 12% (her Tier 2)
* **You earn**: 8% (your Tier 3)
* **Platform**: Remaining platform fees support development

Everyone wins!

***

### 🏆 **Integration with Leaderboard**

* You have 10 direct referrals (Tier 1)

You can always execute signals and earn XP through community participation. You can also earn bonus XP through Telegram activity and educational contributions.

#### **Q: Can I buy XP with real money?**

**A:** No, XP can only be earned through platform activities. This ensures the system rewards skill and engagement rather than just spending power.

#### **Q: Do I lose XP on losing trades?**

**A:** No, you never lose XP. Losing trades simply don't generate XP rewards. The system is designed to reward learning and improvement without penalties.

#### **Q: How long does XP last?**

**A:** XP never expires. Your balance carries forward indefinitely, so you can take breaks without losing accumulated XP.

### 📊 **Trading Strategies**

#### **Q: Which strategy should I start with?**

**A:** For beginners, we recommend:

1. **Q-XTrend Strategy** - Reliable trend following, excellent for learning
2. **Q-Pulse Strategy** - Advanced momentum trading for experienced users

#### **Q: Can I run multiple strategies at once?**

**A:** Yes! Running both Q-XTrend and Q-Pulse strategies provides diversification and can improve overall performance. Monitor their correlation to avoid over-concentration.

#### **Q: How often do strategies generate signals?**

**A:** Signal frequency varies by strategy:

* **Q-Pulse**: 5-15 signals per day (moderate to high frequency, 30m short term momentum)
* **Q-XTrend**: 2-8 signals per day (moderate frequency, trend following)

#### **Q: What's the difference between signal confidence levels?**

**A:** Confidence scores (0-100) indicate the algorithm's certainty:

* **90-100**: Exceptional signals with multiple confirmations
* **80-89**: High-quality signals with strong setups
* **70-79**: Good signals with solid risk-reward ratios
* **60-69**: Moderate signals for experienced traders
* **Below 60**: Filtered out automatically

#### **Q: Why was my signal rejected?**

**A:** Signals can be rejected for several reasons:

* Position size exceeds risk limits
* Too many correlated positions
* Daily loss limit reached
* Market conditions unsuitable (extreme volatility, low liquidity)
* Account connectivity issues

### ⚙️ **Platform Features**

#### **Q: What's the difference between manual and auto-execution?**

#### **Q: How do I set up risk management?**

**A:** Go to Profile → Risk Management to configure:

* Position size (1-5% recommended)
* Stop loss levels (2-5% typical)
* Maximum concurrent positions
* Daily loss limits
* Portfolio exposure limits

#### **Q: Can I modify or close positions manually?**

**A:** Yes! While PulseTrader manages positions automatically, you can always:

* Manually close positions early
* Adjust stop loss levels
* Modify take profit targets
* Override automatic management

#### **Q: How do I track my performance?**

**A:** The Performance Analytics dashboard shows:

* Win rate and profit factor
* Risk-adjusted returns (Sharpe ratio)
* Strategy-specific performance

### 📈 **Performance & Results**

#### **Q: What returns can I expect?**

**A:** Returns vary based on:

* Strategy selection and market conditions
* Risk management settings
* Account size and position sizing
* Market volatility and trends

Historical backtests show 400-600%+ annual returns, but past performance doesn't guarantee future results.

#### **Q: Why did I lose money on a high-confidence signal?**

**A:** Even high-confidence signals can lose because:

* Markets are inherently unpredictable
* Unexpected news or events occur
* Risk management (stop losses) protect from larger losses
* High confidence means higher probability, not certainty

#### **Q: How do I improve my trading performance?**

**A:** Best practices:

1. Start with conservative risk settings
2. Use multiple strategies for diversification
3. Follow risk management rules consistently
4. Learn from both winning and losing trades
5. Participate in community discussions
6. Gradually increase position sizes as you gain experience
